English Brazilian vocalist Nina Miranda mixes genres, ideas and sounds on this widely varied disc. Much of the time, she lets her dna grab onto modern Brazilian sounds, mixing electronics with sensuous grooves as on the synth pieces “ “Capoeira” or techno “Marshmellow Dreams” and “I Am” with Chris Franck’s guitar, keyboards and bass. Sounds derived from art class ar on the thickly produced “The Cage” and earthy “Silken Horse,” but she sounds strongest on the folksy “ Feminist Man” and particularly during the sweet sounding take of The Beatles’ “Julia.” Sometimes traditional, sometimes clubbing it.
