Thick toned guitarist Torben Waldorff teams up with Ingrid Jensen/tp, Maggi Olin/p-key, Drew Gress/b and Johnathan Blake for seven originals of post modern sounds. Jensen’s buttery horn gasps with delight on”Thyst Intro” while Waldorff creates gentle ripples throughout the main piece. The team shows its ability to rock on the grooving “Off to Far” and “Combust” as Jensen mutes her statements. Most satisfying is a rich and lazy lope on “Ironic Tonic” and a complex but creamy “ Belligerent Beauty” where the contrast between brass and string is a sonic delight. Varied in thoughts, but intrinsically whole.
