A clever mix of traditional folk and jazz is put together hear with leader Adam Schneit and his quartet of Sean Moran/g, Eivind Opsvik/b and Kenny Wollesen/dr. The seven originals mostly feature the leader with his tenor sax, which is warm and alluring on the thoughtful title track as he adds texture to the folk-rocker of “ A Clearer View” and the hip grooved “Old Time Musketry” which mixes in some Sunday Morning church sounds. He pleads with his horn on the tender “Song for Silence” and is loose and feisty as he intertwines with Moran on the free-ish “Different Times.” On clarinet, the gets into a melancholy spirit as Wollesen provides some mallets on the reflective “Hope For Something More.” Impressive impressions.
