Vocalist Ellen Anderson has a tone and sense of swing like vintage Anita O’Day with a flexible team of Anton Forsberg/g, Hannes Jonsson/b and Sebastian Brydniak/dr. She enunciates clearly and with a perfect sense of when to be on, behind or ahead of the beat on “’S Wonderful” and her vibrato gets intimate as she saunters through “I’ll Be Seeing You” and gets misty with Jonsson’s throbbing bass on “Smile.” She does a sheer nighty of a duet with alto saxist Oilly Wallace on “I Cried For You” while they show their bop chops in group fashion on “A Day in the Life of A Fool.” Peter Asplunds trumpet bops with the sacking lady on “Au Privave” while they weave in and out like cars in an Italian roundabout on the crisp Everything I Love.” Old schools swing with 21st Century framework.
