Sounds, melodies and aural images are taken from lands ranging from West Africa to the Orient on this pastoral album by Omar Sosa/p-key and Seckou Keita/kora-perc. The two aren’t alone on this caravan adventure, as they bring in Far Easter woodwinds with Wu Tong on the reedy shang on nocturnal “Black Dream” and the ambient “Another Prayer” while teaming up with Miedo Miyaaki’s koto on the longing and spacious “Thiossane.” Folk percussion lithely adds sounds of the Sahel on the gently flowing “Dary” and “Moyo Yeye” and starry nights are evoked with vocals that sound like flickering desert lights on “Fatiliku.” Reflective, impressionistic and soft water colors abound with textures.
