Soft toned Ingrid Jensen/tp-el and Christine Jensen/sax team up with Ben Monder/g, Fraser Hollins/b and Jon Wikan/dr for a collection of pastoral pieces that come across like audible water color paintings. The rhythm teams creates gentle canters for the breathy soprano and trumpet as some exotic kalimba adds to the texture on “Blue Yonder” while noirish harmonies float over a slinky groove on “Swirlaround.” The team gets a bit assertive when Ingrid switches to alto sax on the freer form “Old Time” and the trumpet years n the night over a sighing alto sax on “Dots and Braids” while the team gives Monder some time to stretch out on the post bopper “Margareta.” Most rewarding are the pieces where the rhythm team steps out so guitar effects and trumpet can float like a nimbus cloud on “Duo Space” and the two horns and guitar can evoke dreams on the misty “Trio: Garden Hour.” Tones and a gentle palate for the brushes are in control here, and it works wonderfully in this 10 song art gallery.
