Caliente sounds and rhythms are served on a hot plate as Eddie Palmieri serves as a guest on his own tribute. His lovely piano touch bookends the album with a pair of beautiful “Variations” while the exciting percussion provided by Gadwin Vargas/cong and Raul Maldonado/dr serve as a sizzling sauce for Norberto Ortiz’s tenor on “Charlie’s Whole Tone Blues.” Sepulveda’s horn is celebrative on the bright “Peer Magic” and mutes well on “Si Tu’ Sabes” along with vocals by Sietenueve.” Bienvenido Dinzey’s piano does wonders on “Besame Mucho” and the whole team bops with delight as Felipe Fournier provides good vibes on “Mr. Jazz” and “Bomba Pa’ Carmen.” You might burn yourself if you hold onto this one too long; it’s pretty hot!
