Cool toned guitarist Eric St-Laurent teams up with a sublime team of Jordan O’Connor/b, Michel DeQuevedo/perc and Attila Fias/p for eight lithe and lyrical pieces. DeQuevedo keeps busy with the undercurrent since there is no drummer here, and makes it work well with a street festival feel for the leader’s guitar on a rich read of “Donna Lee” while the title track has some sinewy electric lines mixed with Latin modes. The team creates a hip groove on “The Bass and the Mama” and Attila is a hon’ on the piano for the hip and bluesy “Call Me Maybe” while strings and ivory dance gracefully on “Polarize.” Sublime and pastoral, with enough rhythm to keep things pulsating forward.
