Lawrence Axelrod plays piano, composes and conducts the music on this wide ranging collection of modern classical music. There are nine solo piano pieces performed by Axelrod, all with a direct and 21st Century tone. Marcus Ostermiller performs a 9 minute “Common Threads” solo piano, which is expansive and dramatic. The Ensemble Nouvelle Epoque features J. Lawrie Bloom’s bass clarinet on the sophisticated “Pos Metaphonos” while some modern operatic voicings by Julia Bentley and Scott Ramsay are featured on “Night of Stars” and “Saison” respectively .
