Here’s an album for art majors; The team Oddsong consists of Rebecca Shrimpton/s voice with Darrell Katz composing the material delivered by a conglomerate of saxes, strings, brass and things that go bump in the night. The music itself ranges from atmospheric panting “Prayer” quirky strings, rocky voices and left of center lyrics as on the title track. Sometimes the songs have a strong substance, sounding quite Gaellic on “LLAP Libertango” folksy on the loose “Gerbils” but mostly you get lots of scurrying about on “Lemmings” dripping water from strings and vibes with sighing on “Tell Time” and spoken quirkiness and frisky chirps on “Squirrel.” Is there a visual to accompany this journey?
