Conducted by Dennis Mackrel, the Danish Radio Big Band delivers swinging charts along with some seasonal solos and vocals. Sinne Eeg is fun and buoyant on “ Jingle Bells” while Mads Mathias revs up the obscure “Chop Chop (The Xmas Tree)” along with Hans Ulrik’s tenor sax. Curtis Stigers is sleigh ride smooth on “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” while Bobo Moreno’s “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” teams well with Karl-Martin Almqvist’s tenor. The band is fun without being irreverent, and the closing “When You Wish Upon A Star” with Palle Mikkelborg joined by Henrik Gunde on piano will satisfy fans of Disney and Nativity.
