The Fontenay Chamber Players & The Borealis Wind Quintet: En Prevision

Compositions by Sima Wolf are explored by chamber groups The Fontenay Players and The Borealis Wind Quintet here.  The pieces such as “En Prevision” mix a string quartet with harp, flute and clarinet supplied by Wendy Kerner, Maryly Culpepper and Kathryn Taylor, respectively, with the sounds of this and the three part “The Chambers of Hemera” producing a modern early Romantic-Late Renaissance feel of pastoral sounds. Culpepper delivers a rich flute solo on “Awakening” as Derin Oge’s piano is modern romantic on two solos during “ Nocturnal Landscapes.”  With flute and percussion mixing merrily on a three part “Brazilian Suite.” Highly charming and autumnal in mood and delivery.
