Vocalist Rebekah Victoria keeps it upbeat and perky as she delivers 16, count ‘em 16 snappy reads of standards. The core team of Chuck Manchini/g, Bob Steele/b and Bob Belanski/dr is deft and delightful as Victoria stations herself on “Taking a Chance On Love” and “East of the Sun.” She is accompanied by the arm and lyrical tenor of Ian Wilson on a lithe “Skylark” and an exciting horn team spices up “Puesta Del Sol.” Victoria herself has a warm Middle America tone to her voice that is reminiscent of the likes of Kay Starr, and it works well even on the unlikely “Our Day Will Come.” Fun and unpretentious.
