Guitarist Jon Lundbom releases his third ep with his team of Jon Irabagon/as, Balto Exlamationpoint/ts-reeds, Moppa Elliott/b and Dan Monaghan/dr for three songs of 25 minute duration. The last song on this one is the most lyrical, with some rich and sinewy work by the leader as the reeds create a thick pilaf for support. The first song has the tow saxes in conversation with each other, coalescing for a thick and rich sorghum on the second, but both of these have a looser and less contrived feel to them. The rhythm team is intuitive and works well keeping the three melodic instruments close to the fire, mixing spontaneity with a dash of cohesiveness.
