Gwen Hughes is sweet in both tone and delivery on this cheerful collection of material mostly from her own pen. The two beat guitars and ukulele provided by Steve Cunningham create upbeat moods on “These Years” and “I Fell In L ove” and she can also display her funky soul with Julius Speed’s keyboards on “The Other Side Of Lonely.” She sounds girl next door dreamy on the wispy “Lyin’ Eyes” and poppish with the horn section during “This Is A Love Song” and “Fragile Faith.” Her closing “I Take Your Hand” shows her ability to get serious about tenderness; this lady is versatile and convincing in every mood.
