Thick toned tenor saxist creates tonal heaven with Hammond B3er Demos Petropoulos and guest slto star David Sanborn along with a rock steady team of Jimmy Chamberlin/dr and Nir Felder/g for a smoky session. Sanborn only appears on a couple tracks, but it’s enough to stick to your ribs, trading backing and forth on the bouncy title track after Catalano’s glorious solo intro. The two reeds get hefty on a bluesy “Sugar” but things don’t slow down after Sanborn exits. Petropoulos swirls and Felder bends the strings with delight on “All Blues” with Chamberlin popping the clutch after a deep tenor and Hammond open on “Shakin” while the leader howls with a vibrato made for Puccini on “At Last.” This is finger lickin’ good stuff!
