Taylor Cook: The Cook Book

Taylor cook prepares meals on alto sax, flute and clarinet here with a core group of chefs in Jack Bodkin/key, Brandon Wall/g Justin Gray/b and Robin Claxton for a full menu of accessible jazz. The team delivers an easy blue  plate of blues on “The Replacement” with Cook’s horn rich and clear, the cymbals splash on a funky “Backstroke Boogie” and Cook bops with the best with a horn and string section on ”Biker’s Dozen.” There’s some cozying up to the guitar during “On The Sunny Side of the Street” and his flute leads the charge on “El Toro.” The desert is a rich gospel homily with the alto delivering the sermon with keyboard accompaniment on “Testifyn’ “ ending the 10 course meal on a full stomach.
