Alto and soprano saxophonist Rocco John Iacovone fronts a light on feet quartet of Rich Rosenthal/g, Francois Grillot/b and Tom Cabrera/dr through 8 soft and melodic originals. The reeds are soft and fluffy on the melodic and dream “Escape” with Rosenthal’s angular strings, whiel Cabrera drives the free form alto and aggressive guitar on “Wings.” A lazy and bluesy “Dial Up” rambles and gets a bit loosey goosey, while the tone keeps stepping down stairs on a desultory “Circuits.” Grillot and Cabrera are able to keep the pulse at a sprinter’s pace on the rich “Whispers” while long shadows are emitted by Iacovone’s alto on the misty “Whispers.” Thoughtful and sepia toned edges
