****RINGER OF THE WEEK****Renato Braz: Saudade

If you’ve been looking for some fresh Brazilian music, look no further. Grade B Maple Syrup of a voice Renato Braz teams up with Paul Winter and his famed Consort along with guests like Dori Caymmi and Ivan Lins for a rich and pastoral collection of material that combines new with old.

Harplike strums by Dori Caymmi team with a string quartet and Winters’ delicate soprano on “Eu Nao Existo Sem Voce” whiel a sweet samba like “Feitico Da Villa’ includes seductive percussion by Paul Martins/b, B re/perc and the vocalist. Lins brings his charming voice and keyboards to “Onde esta’ Voce?” and the glorious “Acqua Marcia” with both singers creating harmonic convergence. Pastoral impressionism has Winter, Paul McCandless/eg serenading along with Braz on “Chora Brasileira” and a  delicate duet with Theo De Bazrros/g is palpably sensitive during “Disparada.”

The entire album has a warm breeze of a late summer, mixing nostalgia, current dreams & hopes with  a hopeful longing. You’ll love this one! Any US tours coming?!?
