The trio of Jack Bodkin/p, Mark Godfrey/b and Eric West/dr make for some dynamic work here on this 6 song ep (which would have passed for an entire album back in the days of vinyl and roses). The trio works as a team and not a simple “mow, blow and go,’ with lyrical themes on a piece like “Bucket List” or “April” coincided with strumming bass and drums to develop a strong pulse. Bodkin’s piano is restless with West’s stick work n “Mrs. Kim…” while he glistens on “Undercurrent.” Each song features one of the three in the spotlight, with West’s dynamic work forging ahead on “Treptower Park.” A group effort well performed.
