Guitarist Dominic Miller co leads an exciting band with pianist Manolito Simonet as they take you through a rich tour of Cuban side streets. The band of Andy Abad Acosta/p, Roberto Vazquez/b, Raicel Riveron/dr and Evelio Ramos/perc and punctuated and driven by a horn section of Robin Feliz Martinez/tp, Rafael Arbolaez/tp, Leonardo Alacon/tb, Ivanovis Garzon/tb and David Bencomo Guedes/fl are able to saunter with delight as Miller plays classical guitar on “La Belle Sans Regrets” or funky “Tokyo” with Miller bending the electric guitar notes to Vazuez’s thumb slapping electric bass. “Shape of My Heart’ has the horn sections breath back and forth as Miller’s gentle strums, while Riveron drives the peppy keyboards on the extroverted “D’Pronto.” Some lovely strings are draped like a sheer nightgown on “Chanson” and extra traditional sounds are provided by Panco Amat’s tres on “Lullaby To An Anxious Child” Smoking like a Romeo y Juliet.
