Guitarist David Fiuczynski mixeshis career between rock and jazz, having worked with fusion artists such as Hiromi with fantastic results. This time around, he brings together a wide reaching team of Helen Sherrah-Davies/v, Yazhi Guo/perc-suona, Urar Artun/key, Jake Sherman/key, Justin Schornsein/b and Alex Gailey/dr for a wild mix of computer sounds, dots and dashes and electronic musings. Pieces such as “Loon-Y-Tunes” and “Flam” include bird calls interspersed with Tomita-like keyboard noodlings, while rockish headbanging is delivered on”Oisequx JDillique.” Clock like clicking and experimental “microtonal keyboards” dot and dash throughout as on “Gagaku Chord Candy.” Alto saxist Rudresh Mahanthappa adds a bit of jazz on the grooving with electric guitars on “Uira Happy Jam” and the prog-rocker “Loon-Ly Solitaire” which prevent this album from being classified under Sound Effects.
