Van Wilks plays guitar and sings rocking blues on this album with a rotating rhythm section and assortment of guest vocalists. His voice and delivery has hints of Eddie Money and Rick Springfield with an extra dash of earthiness on pieces like “Strange Girl.” Hints of Bad Company and Foreigner are given away with riffs on “Drive By Lover” (with extra vocals by Christopher Cross) and “She Makes Me Crazy” while he shows his boogie chops on “Golddigger.” His guitar shows a moody side on “21st Century Blues” and displays a more thoughtful side on “Midnight Crossing.” Fans of vintage 70s-80s rock will want this guys chops and attitude.
