Tenor saxist Arnan Raz forms a quintet with a velvety front line as he brings alto player Eyal Hal along to the fore with the conversant rhythm team of Daniel Meron/p, Nadav Lachish/b and Dani Danor/dr.
The saxes intertwine to form a rich molasses of reeds on nicely pulsed “The Main Lawrit (Part 3) and bluesy “The Main Lawrit (Part 2).” Raz’s tenor is warm on the ballad standard “It’s Easy To Remember” and displays a gorgeously palpable vibrato on “Solo le Pido A Dios” while Hal’s alto sighs softly with Danor’s cymbal on “Zahra” and hovers in a fluffy “This Kid Is Me.” Meron is dreamy and reflective “The White City” with the whole rhythm section is as tasty as a sesame seed crunch throughout the whole set. Quite impressive post bop sounds and grooves.
