Johnny Cash: Koncert v Praze (In Prague-Live)

Sony Legacy has been delivering some wonderful vintage material from The Man in Black. This latest album finds him about 8 years after the Denmark gig that was recently reviewed. Here, he’s in Prague on a 1978 show with his “Tennessee Three” of Marshal Grant/b, WS Holland/dr, and Bob Wooton-Jerry Hensley/g. Cash’s is voice is in wonderfully rich form while the band is as polished as the chrome on a 57 Bel Air on material like “Ring of Fire” and “I Walk The Line.” He gets into the rockabilly mood on  a “Railroad Medley” that includes “Hey Porter” while “Big River” keeps rolling along. Earl Ball’s piano delivers a “Last Date” and the Carter Family joins in for a rip-roaring “Wabash Canonball.”

There’s nothing new or earth shaking her, but just like mom’s home cooking, you don’t expect that. You want comfort food, and you’re getting it here. If you’re one that wants to have everything he’s done, you won’t regret your addiction on this release.
