Bassist Luca Sisera brings together Michael Jaeger/ts-cl, Silvio Codotsch/tb, Yve3s Theiler/p-cemb and Michi Stulz/dr for nine flights of fancy. Codotsh’s trombone gets to make some noises with his valve along with other eerie effects with the band on “Warship Requiem” and he goes free form on “Roofer” while handling the herky jerky rhythms on “Backyard Cowboys.” Ominous horns pervade the rubato on “Neptunes Chant” before the pulse begins, while hints of Mingus are lead by Sisera on the assertively boppish “Drunk Octopus” where the horns weave back and forth. A dash of Monk with bass and drums is found on “Fat Snap” and Isa Wiss loans her voice to the intricate “Rockaway.” Loose, but still able to move.
