Jazz and soul meet R&B in the form of the group Huntertones. Consisting of Dan White/sax, Jon Lampley/tp-sous, Chris Ott/tb, Joshua Hill/g, Theron Brown/key, Adam Deascentis/b and John Hubbell/dr, the band debuts on this disc with six originals that are high on an easy groove, snappy horns and accessible solos. A bit of reggae pops into the back beat of “Welcome to the Neighborhood” Deascentis delivers a nice bass line on the calypso’d Song For Arthur.” Ott’s trombone and White’s tenor delve into a nice bop line on “Hip Mr. Hampton” and Hill creates some nice guitar effects on “The Gwiz.” Tasty, with a nice tap of the toes.
