Drummer Bastian Weinhold brings together a post bop team of Adam Larson/ts, Raviv Markovitz/b and Nils Weinhold/g for a collection of originals. The longer pieces are intertwined with a few “Interlude” themes that feel like tentative jams, but other than that, the music is sophisticated and tricky, with intricate themes on “Mole Hunt” and “The Snowman.” Nils Weinhold’s guitar bops well on the driving “Everyday List” and the band lands softly on “Alone” with Larson’s tenor acting like a parachute. Buitar and bass do some longing together on “Home to Home” allowing every member on the team to get an aria of sorts. Complex and serious, but still with allure.
