Francesca Blanchard: Deux Visions

Singer-songwriter Francesca Blanchard sounds like a throwback to the old days of folk singers that came from Laurel Canyon in the 70s. This album has her singnig in English and French, with acoustic and electric guitar, with a voice that has a hint of early Joni Mitchell and a feel of Neil Young. In French, she delivers a wispy delivery on “Rame” while going a bit more electric on the soft “Mon Ange.” On piano she is intimate on “Home is a Cage” and sounds like a troubadour on “Save a Different Way.” Hints of Leonard Cohen seep in on “The Sea (Zach’s Song)” and droplets of electric and acoustic guitar make for some nice effects on “Le Blues.” When’s she coming to McCabes?
