West African vocalist Daby Toure’ delivers a rich and endearing album here, for the most part keeping the sounds simple and letting the mood speak for itself. His voice is rich and carmelized, and teamed with gentle guitars, woodwinds, percussion and small choirs, he takes you on rich sonic journeys. There’s a folksy charm similar to a minstrel on pieces such as “Woyoyoye” and “Little Song” while he goes almost to falsetto range on “Soninko.” Guitars canter gracefully on”Emma” and chirp along on the more poppish “Oma” whereas you feel serenaded on “Mina.” Vocals coalesce together like molasses and butter on “Khone” and “Kiba” and a lovely flute joins into the fray on “If You.” Balm to the soul and ears.
