NYC based pianist Vladan Mijatovic drops his last name and goes solo piano on this impressive release of originals. His touch has a hint of his Balkan background-Eastern European classicism is felt on the warmth of his notes and lyricism on “Ornaments” and the conversant “Jeremija.” Hints of Windham Hill impressionism create delicate shadows on “Homeland” while ripples of notes create running waters of sounds on “There Are Days…” and “Improv III.” His touch can be percussive as on “Leoland” and always shows a mastery of mood and thought.
