Pianist Seth Farber takes you to the world of jazz before the modern era with a collection of originals that mix vaudeville, stride, ragtime and even a dash of classical. Vintage Joplin-esque jaunts abound as Farber spryly uses his fingers on the cheerful “Cakewalk for Molly” and “The St. Charles Stomp.” You’ll have visions of Harold Lloyd on “Silent Movie” and thoughts of Old World charm on the lovely “Russian Dream.” Hints of Chopin glide into “Currents” and some vaudeville rolls along on “The Minnesota Soft Shoe.” Cheerful, optimistic and wonderfully prancing, these songs beg for lyrics and a megaphone.
