Warm-toned trumpeter Enrico Rava forms a front line with Gianluca Petrella/tb along with Francesco Diodati/g, Gabriele Evangelista/b and Enrico Morello/dr for a mixture of spacious lyricism and assertive modern sounds. He gets the band in a Mingusy mood on the wild ride of “Infant” and the throbbing and edgy “Corvette.” Petrella’s trombone is rich as he rides along the bass and drums on “”Don’t” and bops cheerfully with Diodati’s guitar on “F. Express.” Rava himself emphasizes fluffy sounds as on the gentle “Diva” and laconic “Solo” while he plays around with mouthpiece effects on the title track. The overall mood is autumnal sunset with just a couple thundershowers to keep things exciting.
