Dubbest: Light Flashes

The best reggae always has a hint of the jazz groove in its root, and Dubbest succeeds in that spirit. The team of Ryan Thaxter/key, Andrew MacKenzie/g, Cory Mahoney/g, Sean Craffey/b and Kyle hancock/dr team up with a horn section and extra vocalists while Thaxter handles the lead vocals. The moods range from an almost mariachi “Give In” to a hint of country/western on “ One Thing.” Most of the time, you get crisp drumming, a laid back lilt and smoky horns as on “Leaving”, “Leave In Dub” and the double timed “Spend the Day.” Medium tempos create a nice steamy sizzle on “Iron Paw” and a bi of electrical effects add a dash on “Shower You.” Good vibes.
