Steve Kirkman and Jeff Eyrich make up the team Alectro, both singing, playing guitars, keyboards, percussion and Eyrich adding bass guitar on a mix of originals andcovers. Their sound most of the time comes off as being highly influenced by Dire Straits, with subtly deft guitars and swinging rock as even the lyrics have a Knopfler-esque touch on “School Of Desire,” “Hard Travelin’ “ and “Shining Star.” A bluesy rock read of “Tobacco Road” includes some driving drums by Rich Zukor, while Tim Ouimette adds mariachi-like trumpet on “The Debt.” The lyrics address various issues, with clever battle about faith is addressed on “Cross and the Switchblade.” Low key, unpretentious and alluring.
