Here’s an intriguing duet album that mixes Bill McBirnie and his flutes/piccolo and Bruce Jones’ guitar, voice, percussion and synthesizers. Lots of Brazilian, latin and world flavors are served well her, ranging from hints of hip hop on “Se Eu Fico Come Voce” and bossa nova on “Izabel” which both feature Jones’ vocals, to calming sambas and ambient pieces such as “Motel Ce Que Sabe” and “Na Quinta Esauina”. Warm flutes, acoustic guitars and percussion make for wonderful moments on”Lembrando Paul Horn” while some gentle synths and guitar caress the Afro Brasil “A Ponte Para Carlton.” Jones’ guitar is a calming jo on “Quando A CHuva Cai” but he can also get a git funky on “Se Eu Fico Come Voce.” One plus one makes more than two here.
