This seems to be the Year of the Guitar Duet Album! Here, we’ve got the summit meeting of Kevin Eubanks and Stanley Jordan, which bodes and delivers quite well. Because their styles are so different, you can easily delineate between Jordan’s tapping and Eubanks’ strumming on pieces like “Old School Jam” and “Goin’ On Home.” Sometimes, they switch around on instruments as Eubanks picks up the bass on an evocative “Nature Boy” and Jordan brings his impressionistic piano in for a deeply felt “Blue In Green.”Eubanks goes it alone on “Summertime” as he takes up bass and acoustic guitar, but what really grabs your attention is when the duet forms a trio as Jordan plays guitar and piano simultaneously along with Eubanks for a “head set heaven” take of “Someone Like You.” It’s not overdubbed-he does this in concert as well. This is a honey of a meeting-sweet, rich and filling!
