Never heard of this lady before? Join the club-neither had I, but I sure like what’s on this disc!
Niho Nobuzane plays piano and sings while she leads a basic team on Tetsuya Sato/b, Mauriciao/dr and a rotation of guest artists through a wonderful collection of Braziilana. She’s got a lyrical touch as on “Fly With Me In Spring” and sounds like a ton of fun as she sings on “Avenida Atlantica” The band gets quite kinetic on “Bluesamba” whle Filo Machado’s guitar livens up “Samba Dobrado” with some exciting sounds. A two part “Chorinho Medley” has extra spice peppered on by percussion, but the best parts here are the two ringers. A Brazilian take of Glenn Miller’s “Moonlight Serenade” is a stroke of genius” while the South American sounds on the traditional Japanese folk tune “Kawachi Ondo” is a sonic Asian Fusion feast. This one’s going to surprise you.
