San Diego-based guitarist Wayne Riker knows how to have a party. He brings together a funky rhythm team with an elastic back beat consisting of Fred Lanuza/key, Harley Magsino/b, and brother Walt/dr and has guest horn players pop in for some snapping soul grooves. Gilbert Castellanos’ trumpet glows on the sizzling “Street Struttin’” while Lanuzza’s barroom piano takes the tango baton with trombonist April West on “Funny Bone Stomp.” Some romantic samba breezes gloat in with Loir Bell’s flute on “Solana Del Mar” and everyone gets into the act on the toe tapping shuffler “All Aboard Blues.” An in studio live audience is having as good a time as the musicians-a definite party hearty album.
