See-I: Knowledge Shine Bright

Fort Knox Collaborators & Thievery Corporation Vocalists Arthur “Rootz” Steele And Archie “Zeebo” Steele, Leaders of the Reggae-Soul Movement Are Back With A New Album Featuring  Mr. Lif, Flex Mathews, Candice Mills & Edy Blu

Ready for a mix with classic reggae with sounds from South Central? That’s what you’ll get here, as vocalists Arthur “Rootz” Steele and Archie “Zeebo” Steele front a front a team of  Rob Myers/g, Ashish Vyas/b, Jeff Franca/dr, Frank Mitchell/sax and Salem Steele/key that get you to get up and stand up as well as slither and slide. Desmond Dekker-influenced “Never Give Up” adds a hint of hip hop (along with references to Obama? Haven’t we outgrown that yet?) while some lots of synth sounds meld with a rappish groove on “Real Steel”. Lots of turntables and synthesizers create rhythms on “The Boogieman” with a cameo by  Mr Lif’s vocals, while you almost feel like you’re in an Armenian wedding on “The Chase.”Continuing on the rotation, “Queen of Sheba” and “Revolution” include guest appearances by  vocalists Edy Blu and Candice Mills but the catch here is the incessantly joyful rivulet of rhythm created by the band. Lots of fun!
