Only in New Orleans does the spiritual meet with the secular with no one batting an eye. The celebrative horn team and marching drums feels just as comfy praising the Lord on “Lord, Lord, Lord, You’ve Sure Been Good to Me” as with the street party atmosphere of tunes like “Move Your Body.” Besides the wonderfully punctuated brass on tunes like “Take ‘em to the Moon,” you get some savory vocals by Erica Falls on “Rebirth Makes You Dance” and some exuberant soloing by Trombone Shorty on “On My Way.” Phillip Frazier’s tuba makes for some finger snapping bass work all throughout, while Javon Carter brings in his big horn on the exuberant ”Texas Pete.” You get both sides of the tracks on this tour of the Crescent City, so grab a praline and enjoy the fest!
