Here’s a cd/dvd that will warm your cockles, if they ever needed warming. The ultimate eclectic 70s band, Little Feat, is caught in their prime on this cd/dvd recording during a concert at the Dutch festival Pinkpop back in June of 1976. The team of Lowell George/g-vj, Bill Payne/key-v, Richie Hayward/dr, Paul Barrere/g-v, Sam Clayton/perc and Kenny Gradney/b were hard to pigeonhole and label. Mixing R&B, southern rock, blues and country, they put out some impressive and influential albums such as Feats Don’t Fail Me Now and Dixie Chicken. Lots of songs from those two albums are included here, such as “Fat Man in a Bathtub” and “Rock and Roll Doctor.” The band sounds great during this show, and on the dvd, the unpretentiousness and dedication to the music itself as on “Feats Don’t Fail Me Now” and the fun loving “Trip Face Boogie” is refreshingly lacking in attitude or gimmicks. Simple and straightforward, exactly as you’d like your music delivered.
