Here’s an impressive vocalist who has a wonderful pitch and delivery. Lisa Ferraro teams up with a rhythm team of John DiMartino/p, James Chirillo/g, Ray Drummond/b and Lewis Nash as well as guest tenor titan Houston Person for a dozen personal treatment of standards. You know right away that this lady means business as she starts the album off in a vulnerable duet with DiMartino on “I Wish On The Moon.” Her duet with Drummond on “Love Walked In” displays her impressive control of melody and timing as well, and when Person comes in with his breathy tenor on tunes like “Maybe You’ll Be There” and “Lucky So and So” a musical teamwork of heavenly sounds is created. Her take of “Teach Me Tonight” is much more tender than usual, while the closing duet with Chirillo on “Moon River” is a fitting end to a well rounded session. You’ll like this lady!
