Drummer Dan Weiss puts together a highly ambitious album here in terms of conception, musicality and instrumentation.
The pieces come together in almost kaleidoscopic fashion, mixing modern classical piano and progressive rock as in “Part One” to acoustic/classical guitar with Metallica on “Part Two.” A quasi-rennassance/baroque horn section on “Part Five” includes 60s folk and percussion, leading to exciting interaction of jazz sensibilities on ”Part Six.” The just under 40 minute amalgamation is filled with ideas bouncing through your ears, always keeping your interest.
