If you want it down and dirty, here’s your music. Danny Petroni plays the Strat like it was welded to his fingers at birth, and he teams up with Frank Lacy, who sounds like he swallowed nails for lunch in elementary school. They together front a rollicking boogie n blues band with Gary Oleyar/violin, Gene Boccia-Calvin Jones/b, John Drymon-Steve Kramer-p and John P Allen-Dave Halpern/dr on a collection of originals that sound like you’re walking along Beale Street in Memphis. Boogie all night jukers like “I’ve Seen Everything” and “Taste Like Chicken” are made to let your problems fly away, while Chicago blues material such as “Peanut Butter and Jelly” or straight ahead “I’ve Changed My Ways” will rev up your “oh yeah” meter. Things get serious on the thoughtful “Requiem for a Working Man” who’s become a victim of “out sorcery,” while most of the other themes are booze, broads and bucks. Petroni shows his fretwork on the closing solo “Diminishing Returns” just so you can learn a few licks on your own. Yee Haw!
