John Adorney does it all here. Well, almost. He handles the keyboards and synths, cello, guitar, banjo, sitar, dulcimer, auto harp and even lends his voice on a track, while guest Daya handles the rest of the singing and Richard Hardy brings the bamboo flute to one of the tracks. What you get here is a background of keyboards laying the foundation for what used to be called New Age music; thoughtful and gentle melodies that lower the blood pressure. The contrast of a keyboard rhythm and plucking form a banjo and sitar as on “Unbounded” is fresh and bright, while the ruminating cello on “The Wonder Well” is wondrously moody, particularly when Daya’s vocals add an extra layer of texture. Her latin reading on “In Spiritus” is reminiscent of Enya albums of the 80s, while the bamboo flute on “The Meeting Place” is contemplative. A trip back to a style that’s been forgotten.
