Rolling Stones: Sweet Summer Song-Hyde Park Live

This dvd definitely gives a whole new meaning to the term “70s Rock”. Returning to the scene where in 1969 they took off to become one of the most famous blues/rock bands ever, the gentrified Rolling Stones continue to defy age. Is there a painting of them somewhere that is getting decrepit? With Jagger still prancing around like someone ¼ his age, you start to wonder if there WAS a secret pact made way back when with someone to sympathize for.

Still, the team of Jagger with the core of Charlie Watts/dr (looking good!), Keith Richards (stayin’ aliiiiiiiiiiiive!) and Ronnie Wood make hits like “Start Me Up” and “Honky Tonk Woman” relevant, audacious and fresh. The augmented team of Darryl Jones/b, Chuck Leavell/key, longtime vet Bobby Keys/sax and Tim Reis/sax get an extra kick in the jams when alumnus Mick Taylor struts on stage for a reading of “Midnight Rambler.” Interspersed between the songs are reminisces of the original concert and their reflections on the times that have been a’changin’. Timeless music by artists that seem to defy Father Time.
