Madmen: Christmas

I guess that there’s a “hit” TV series on AMC, and this is music that is from the show and also inspired by it, just in time for the Christmas season. There are a couple of modern synth styled pop tunes that includes the theme of the show (do shows still have themes? Anything as good as the “Mannix” one?). The rest is 50s-60s nostalgia (or is it ironic tongue in cheek?) such as Rosemary Clooney’s “White Christmas,” Mel Torme’s “The Christmas Song” and even Otis Redding delivering a soulful “Merry Christmas Baby.” What comes out more than anything else is how well singers delivered the goods back then. No groaning, no angst, no navel gazing. What a concept!
