Here’s a vocalist with an alluring voice, taking some standards and Boomer Tunes and arranging them in intriguing manners. The backing team of Matt Treder/key-arr, Mark Schneider/b, Brian West/dr-perc, and William Seiji Marsh/g is occasionally supplemented by strings, guitars, accordions and ukuleles. Most intriguingly, the strings float around Loren’s clear presentation of lyrics on the romantic “Cuando Bailamos” and “Le Premier Bonheir Du Jour” while her take of the Turtles’ hit “Happy Together” is given a new lease on life. Ditto for a soulful reading of “I Feel The Earth Move” and a coy “Dream a Little Dream of Me.” She sounds relaxed and calm in her presentation, confident in her musical delivery.
