Drummer Chris Parker leads a fresh sounding trio her with Kyoto Oyobe/p and Ameen Saleem/b on this well rounded mix of standards and originals. Rich and imaginatively swinging material like “C’est Possible” and Pat Metheny’s “Song For Bilbao” have wondrous textures; Oyobe’s touch is fresh and snaps like newly picked corn, while even an oldie like “Love For Sale” has intriguing new prismatic lights and rhythms. Lyricism is prevalent on the gracious “Wednesday Morning,” but most enjoyable are the fingerpoppers like Horace Silver’s “I Want You” and Ray Charles’ “Rockhouse” which both get the joint jumping. Fun, fresh and funky all around.
